Quick Previews: Atlantic Sun Conference

Our conference quick previews are just quick predictions for the all-conference teams and the conference standings. If you came here looking for a deep analysis on each team, you’ve came to the wrong place. We’re too lazy to do that 🙂

Over the past few seasons, the Atlantic Sun has busted many brackets. It started with Florida Gulf Coast’s magical Sweet 16 run, followed by Mercer’s upset of Duke and then FGCU scaring North Carolina last March. The A-Sun has became a very underrated conference, featuring an exciting brand of basketball and a new rivalry at the top of the conference in Dunk City and North Florida. Those two look like the class of the conference once again. FGCU returns 4 starters that finished 2nd in the conference and won the conference tournament last year, including double-double a game threat Marc-Eddy Norelia. On the other hand, North Florida returns 3 starters from the team that won the regular season title last season. The conference is very expierenced this year, with four teams returning 3 starters, three teams returning 4, and one team (Lipscomb) returning all 5. The biggest challenger to these two will be NJIT, who returns 3 starters from a team that finished tied for second with FGCU last season. Whether anyone can challenge FGCU or the Ospreys in the conference is unknown. What we do know is that you better not right off the A-Sun’s tournament representative come March.
