Quick Previews: Ohio Valley Conference

belmont_bruins01Our conference quick previews are just quick predictions for the all-conference teams and the conference standings. If you came here looking for a deep analysis on each team, you’ve came to the wrong place. We’re too lazy to do that 🙂

One of the most underrated and exciting conferences in the nation as of late, the OVC again looks like it boasts the teams capable to put the conference in the spotlight come March this season. Everyone knows, or should know, Belmont and Murray State by know, but it was Austin Peay who made a Cinderella run in the conference tournament last season to get the conference’s NCAA bid. Austin Peay will be a contender in the West division this season, likely #2 behind Murray State. The Racers of Murray State have three starters back from a team that finished 2nd in the West last season, a disappointing season by their standards. In the East division, Belmont looks to be big favorites as they return 4 starters from last year’s squad that won the division, including reigning player of the year Evan Bradds. All in all, the OVC looks like it will be Belmont’s to lose this season, as they have the most talent and experience. As we’ve seen in the past, though, we never know what will happen in this league come tournament time.
