Quick Previews: West Coast Conference

Our conference quick previews are just quick predictions for the all-conference teams and the conference standings. If you came here looking for a deep analysis on each team, you’ve came to the wrong place. We’re too lazy to do that 🙂

Go circle January 14 and February 11 on your calendars right now. Those are the days Gonzaga and St. Mary’s play each other this season, and you won’t want to miss it. We could be in for an epic WCC title race this season with the Zags being #13 in our Top 25 and the Gaels being #16. Gonzaga lost a ton from last season, but they bring in some big time transfers, including Nigel Williams-Goss. They also return Josh Perkins and get the ginormous Przemek Karnkowski back from injury this season. St. Mary’s is way more expierenced than the Zags, as they return every player from a team that won 29 games last season. The Gaels are super balanced and deep and will be a difficult out for any team in the country. After the far and away top dogs, BYU is easily #3 in the league. The Cougars last a bunch from last season, including Kyle Collinsworth. Kyle Davis and Nick Emery, along with guys returning from mission tips, should be enough to make BYU a borderline NCAA Tournament team. They’ll be on the bubble all year. Behind them Santa Clara is a team to keep an eye on, as they return every starter from last season. But let’s face it: The middle and bottom of the WCC isn’t what people care about. It’s going to be the Gonzaga-St Mary’s show, with BYU potentially crashing the party.
